In what can only be described as political correctness backfiring, a security guard working at the Ariana Grande concert when a bomb went off and killed 22 people, said that he felt suspicious about the bomber but didn’t want to approach him for fear of being branded a racist.

Kyle Lawler said that he had a ‘bad feeling’ about suicide bomber Salman Abedi but did not approach the terrorist because he feared being called a racist, a public inquiry has been told. Kyle said he was scared to be wrong about his hunch.

According to the Metro, the security guard was standing 10 or 15ft away from Abedi minutes before the attack and that he tried to contact the security control room for guidance after thinking he looked ‘dodgy’ – but ironically the radio signal was not working.

According to a police statement read to the enquiry sitting in Manchester. He said: ‘I felt unsure about what to do. It’s very difficult to define a terrorist. For all I knew he might well be an innocent Asian male.

I did not want people to think I am stereotyping him because of his race. ‘I was scared of being wrong and being branded a racist if I got it wrong and would have got into trouble.’ He continued: ‘It made me hesitant. ‘I wanted to get it right and not mess it up by over-reacting or judging someone by their race.’
