Sein Fein demand Covid-19 unemployment payment be continued until 2021.

There could be good news on the horizon for thousands of people who are benefiting from the government’s €350 per week Covid-19 unemployment pandemic payment.

While it’s widely expected that the June 8th deadline will be extended, Sein Fein’s finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty has demanded it remains until 2021.

“It’s very clear that the cost of cutting support will be worse for the economy because we have a situation where there is a dampening down of consumer confidence.”, reports the Mirror.
He further stated that “the best thing the government can do at this time is to increase demand. So this isent the time to increase taxes and it’s not the time to be withdrawing support”.
