Serena Williams bids farewell to the tennis world after failing to match Margaret Court’s Grand Slam record

Arguably one of the greatest female tennis players of all time. Serena Williams has called it a day on her career after losing in three sets to Aussie Ajla Tomljanovic at the US Open.

Williams had her chances to win the first set but lost it 7/5, winning the second 7/6 but ultimately losing 6/1 in the third.

She thanked family, friends and supporters after the match with an ominous “I don’t know” after being asked if it really is her last match ever.

Williams finishes her career on 23 Grand Slams, one less than Australian great Margaret Court, who has 24, but endless numbers of doubles and mixed Grand Slam titles too.
