The truly dire state of the Irish health system is once again laid bare today, as it has emerged that University Hospital Limerick has reported a record-breaking 92 patients languishing on trolleys at the facility.
This is the highest number in any Irish hospital since records began. Yet inexplicably, 17 beds were closed at the Limerick hospital last week.
Local authorities have described the situation in Limerick as ‘chaotic’ and ‘dangerous’.
There are now renewed calls on the hapless Minister of Health Simon Harris to intervene and resolve the crisis.
