The creator of the hit Adult Swim cartoon series Rick and Morty, Dan Harmon, has come under fire after a skit he made in 2009 remerged in which he breaks into a person’s home and rapes an infant, he even simulates the act with a doll accompanied with sound effects, Hollywood Reporter has revealed.

Harmon plays a child raping, paedophile in the short skit called “Daryl” which was intended to be a parody on the TV series Dexter. He has since apologised and deleted his twitter account without explanation, Breitbart reports.

This most recent controversy surrounding allusions to paedophilia among major figures in entertainment comes after several other major Hollywood figures have had previous social media posts making light or paedophilia and child sexual abuse brought back to light.

Most notably, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn was abruptly fired by Disney last week, after dozens of tweets he made several years ago reemerged in which he jokes about the rape and sexual abuse of children, particularly young boys. Vox reported.

It is unclear at this time if the continuation of the popular series Rick and Morty is in jeopardy.
