“Sinn Fein are for open borders, they’re no better than FG or FF” – Mixed reaction to Sinn Fein easily becoming Ireland’s largest party

Even old Sinn Fein supporters are saying that the party has changed drastically from its origin and that there’s little to no difference in many areas from them and Fine Gael/Fianna Fail.

Open borders, pro vax, pro EU, all things that the FFG government have supported – some people are saying that Sinn Fein will be of no benefit and that they’ll be the same, if not worse for many in society.

Either way, the latest Business Post RED C opinion poll found support for Sinn Féin hit a new high for the second consecutive month in this round of voter polls.

The poll was conducted with more than 1,000 voters online for five days until last Wednesday.

The rising cost of living currently the dominant issue in politics, this poll shows the main opposition party continuing to gain support.

Sinn Féin are up two points to 36% in the latest comparable survey in April.

The two largest ruling parties each lose a point, leaving Fine Gael with 20% and Fianna Fáil with 15%.
