Gerry Adams has stated he would be happy to earn the salary of €1,461.85 a month if he were to be elected as Taoiseach.
He referred to Enda Kenny’s wage at present (€185,000) as “exorbitant”
Mr Adams says taking this minimum wage salary would be “the leaderly thing to do”
Under the new proposals, a TD’s salary would be cut from €87,258 to €75,000.
A Senator’s pay would be cut from from €65,000 to €60,000.
A millionaire tax is also being planned but has not been priced yet.
Gerry Adams stated that a government led by Sinn Féin is one that “places the rights of citizens at the centre at the centre of government decision making.”
