Gardaí have confirmed that over 400 people were caught speeding on St Stephen’s Day.
According to official figures published on Thursday, of the 42,388 vehicles monitored, 414 vehicles were found to be in excess of the speed limit.
It is understood the monitoring came as part of the Gardaí’s operation to tackle dangerous driving over the Christmas period.
Following the release of the figures Gardai issued a warning to the public to slow down whilst travelling as speeding is one of the main factors in road fatalities.
