Up to 5,000 homes are currently without electricity and further disruptions are expected.

Storm Clodagh has taken a firm grip of the West and South of the country with major effects to air travel.

Cork and Shannon airports are currently experiencing the worst brunt with many delays and almost all outbound flights grounded.

The ESB are said to be working on up to 5,000 power supply issues for homes up and down the country.

Meanwhile Gardai have warned people about the hazardous driving conditions.

Henry Muldoon said:
“We advise all motorists to take special care today as conditions are horrendous already in many areas and will only get worse over the next 12 hours”.

Storm Clodagh is said to leave from West to East over the course of the night. It’s the 3rd storm to hit Ireland this winter.
