The public have been banned from swimming in four of Dublin’s north county beaches.

A sewage contamination has halted all water activities for Skerries, Rush, Loughshinny and Balbriggan.

Fingal County Council have issued a three day no-swimming warning and anyone disobeying the order could face a hefty fine.

This comes as beaches dotted around the country are packed with people enjoying the fine June Bank Holiday weekend weather.
