The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has confirmed that the Government will make its decision soon that will provide ‘clear and accurate’ information for everyone in relation to the water charges.

Mr Kenny made the announcement this afternoon after meeting staff at social media giant Facebook at the opening of their new offices in Dublin.

Meanwhile the Chief Executive of Irish Water John Tierney has deeply apologised for how the water charges have been handled up till now.

The Taoiseach addressed the staff at the new facility by admitting that politicians do not get everything right all the time, but he has suggested that clarity on the controversial water charges would be announced soon.

Mr Kenny said: “Despite all of the comments you will have heard recently, (the) Government will make its decision on this (water charges issue) very shortly,” said Kenny. “It will be clear and accurate about it. So that people have confidence on in knowing the contribution they have to make, what it is for and what it is they get in return for that.”
