An Taoiseach Enda Kenny is said to be making efforts to have the Garth Brooks concerts staged in Croke Park.

Mr Kenny is believed to have contacted Kieran Mulvey, the Chief Executive of the Labour Relations Commission and has asked him to organise a meeting between Dublin’s Lord Mayor Christy Burke and the City Manager Owen Keegan, in an attempt to bring about a resolution to the controversy.

Mr Keegan’s office has now been contacted by the Lord Mayor’s office with a view to organising a meeting this evening.

The news comes after Garth Brooks told promoter Peter Aiken that if there is any chance that the five planned concerts can be salvaged and “nobody is being let down” then “we can proceed as planned until the refunds begin”.
