Taoiseach: Ireland’s vaccine roll-out will ramp up in the next quarter

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that Ireland’s Covid-19 vaccine roll-out will be significantly ramped up in the second quarter.

Speaking to RTE, the Taoiseach said that Ireland’s Covid-19 vaccine roll-out will increase over the next quarter and the aim is to get those aged over 70 fully vaccinated by mid May.

The Taoiseach also said that given what we have been promised and what we have negotiated the vaccine supply will increase and to get those over the age of 70 vaccinated will be a significant milestone in terms of reducing severe illness and mortality.

He added that the vaccination of those in this cohort and others who are considered vulnerable will be factored in when it comes to decision on the possibility of easing some restrictions on April 5th.
