Taxis will be banned around the College Green area in Dublin during morning rush hour, it has emerged today, to alleviate chronic traffic congestion issues.
The ban, which will come into effect on March 12, will affect taxis driving southbound in front of Trinity College between 7am and 10am.
Some 17 bus routes have already been diverted from the College Green area in an effort to reduce traffic volumes at peak times.
There has been widespread traffic chaos around College Green and nearby zones since the Luas Cross City line became operational.
