Tesco might soon be toppled over from Ireland’s top supermarket position

The once mighty Tesco keeps losing market share to rivals. Blighted by accountancy and other issues, a determined competition steadily continues to eat away Tesco’s popularity.

Up to ten thousand staff are reportedly facing losing their job, as the company shelves new projects, shuts down stores deemed unprofitable, and attempts to streamline operations.

The vast majority of job cuts are expected to occur in the UK, with 43 stores planned to be closed, and a reported move to axe an entire tier of mid-level management.

The company has confirmed that it will not be shutting down any of its Irish stores.
