Whether you believe that the latest installment in the long running sci-fi saga lives up to its hype or not, the truth remains that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is currently smashing all previous box office records here.
The movie has made over €3.3m in the five days since its release. Similar takings worldwide are likely to make it the most successful movie ever, in financial terms at least.
Globally, The Force Awakens took in €484 million in ticket sales in the first four days, and what makes this figure the more impressive is that the movie hasn’t even opened in China or India yet. China is the second biggest film market, and millions of Chinese people will have the chance to watch the movie from January 9.
Currently, Avatar and Titanic hold the top two places for all time box-office sales, with €2.54 billion and €2 billion, respectively.
The Force Awakens is largely expected to easily topple these two cinema titans.
