The comedian Freddie Starr has died at his home, aged 76

The comedian and entertainer Freddie Starr has sadly died at the age of 76. He shot to fame in the 1970s after appearing on talent show Opportunity Knocks, and continued his success into the 2000s.

It’s understood that Starr died at his home in Spain.

A post on a Facebook page called Freddie Starr Official said: “This is Freddie’s manager. Just to confirm Freddie has passed away. RIP to our greatest comedian of all time.”

The comedian Bobby Davro said on Twitter: “I’ve just heard that Freddie Starr has died.

“He was the funniest man I have ever seen. I’m so sad we have lost one of our greatest comedy talents. RIP Freddie.”
