The funeral of businessman Tony O’Reilly will take place today in Dublin

Tony O’Reilly, an Irish businessman, philanthropist, and rugby player, will have his funeral today.

Following a removal at 5pm last night, a funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Church of the Sacred Heart in Donnybrook, Dublin 4, at 11am.

Mr. O’Reilly passed away in Dublin on Saturday after a brief illness.

According to a funeral announcement, his twenty-three grandkids, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, six children—Susan, Cameron, Justine, Gavin, Caroline, and Tony—as well as friends and family will mourn him deeply, reports RTE.

A lot of praise has been given to Mr. O’Reilly by commercial, governmental, and community leaders in the days after his death.

Before going on to become an incredibly successful worldwide business figure and entrepreneur, Mr. O’Reilly was a rugby player for both the British and Irish Lions and Ireland, reports RTE.

He founded the Kerrygold butter brand, oversaw Irish Sugar, and eventually rose to the position of Chairman and President of the food conglomerate Heinz.

In addition, he assumed command of Independent Newspapers and oversaw its growth into a global media conglomerate.

In 1990, he also assumed control of the Irish ceramics and crystal company Waterford Wedgwood, preventing its financial catastrophe, reports RTE.
