A large piece of aircraft wreckage found off the coast of Tanzania in June has now been confirmed to belong to the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370.

The debris, an outboard flap, will undergo further examination to look for clues as to what may have happened on that fateful flight.

Other aircraft pieces were found washed up in Madagascar earlier this week. The wreckage showed signs of fire damage, raising the possibility of a blaze on board the plane.

MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur, bound for Beijing, on March 8 2014. It veered wildly off course and flew out into the far reaches of the Indian Ocean until it presumably ran out of fuel and crashed into the sea.
