A woman who experienced sexual assault as a kid has urged the government to take action in response to what she called “an epidemic” of abuse occurring in Ireland, reports RTE.
After witnessing her 33-yr-old uncle Ronan O’Grady’s two-year jail sentence for assaulting her for three years when she was six and he was thirteen, 26-yr-old Keely O’Grady released a statement.
At the Central Criminal Court, Ronan O’Grady, who resides on Hosack Road in London, entered a guilty plea to eight charges of sexually abusing his niece at several Offaly sites between 2004 and 2008, reports RTE.
At the time, she was six or nine years old, and he was thirteen or seventeen.
