The UK Home Office has announced plans to evict thousands of rejected asylum seekers who are currently living in hotel accommodation paid for by British taxpayers.
The Guardian reports that evictions of refused asylum seekers will take place “with immediate effect” and charities have reported an increase in people being held in immigration detention centres.
The British government has said it will begin the issue eviction notices all asylum seekers whose claims have been debunked within 21 days.
The British government continue to struggle with significant numbers of migrants crossing the Channel from France to claim asylum in the UK and Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government has vowed to take a tougher approach towards asylum seekers.
