Too much? Irish Households are set to spend over €1 billion euro on groceries this Christmas

Retailers are battling hard against each other to get the last cent out of Irish consumers – and it looks like they’re definitely going to do that.

Vouchers, offers, discounts and specials are seeing people dig deep into their pockets and stock up for Christmas like never before.

Kantar Worldpanel say Irish people spent just under €1 billion in 2017 and this year it’s set to exceed €1 billion on groceries.

The top stores for groceries are:

Dunnes Stores with 22.4%

SuperValu with 21.8%

Tesco on 21.6%

Aldi with 11.6%

and Lidl on 11.3% – but this is the fastest growing shop.
