As the LGBT+ world prepares to celebrate Transgender Visibility Day on the 31st March, the last day of International Women’s Month, lawmakers have passed a law that effectively bans transgender athletes from competing in both girls and women’s sport teams reports Fox News.

The Mississippi lawmakers voted 81 in favour of the new law, 28 against, 6 abstained from voting and 7 voted “present” which counts neither for nor against the bill.

The bill has to be signed by the Governor of the State before it comes into force. The Republican Governor Tate Reeves is expected to sign the bill. Once signed into law, the ban will apply to teams at the state’s schools and universities.

It is expected that Democratic Party US President Joe Biden will not be pleased. On day one of his presidency he signed an executive order calling on schools across the US to permit students to participate in sports under their “chosen gender identity”.

The Women are Human organisation has been outspoken about transgenderism in women’s sports saying “transgender men “have an unfair advantage” in women’s sports and they are “destroying women’s sports.”
