A Kilkenny man, sixty-three, passed away in Australia while on vacation, reports RTE.

On New Year’s Day, Ballyragget business owner John Holland (senior) had trouble when sea swimming in Melbourne.

Fr. Eamonn O’Gorman, the parish priest of Ballyragget, told RTÉ News that Mr. Holland went to Australia with a friend to see his daughter, who relocated there a year ago, reports RTE.

Michael McCarthy, a local Fianna Fáil councillor, stated that Mr. Holland ran a grain company in the middle of the hamlet.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs said: “As with all consular cases, the department does not comment on the details of individual cases,” reports RTE.
