Two Irish men have been charged in Australia for allegedly badly beating a 66-yr-old man who is now in critical condition

24-yr-old Christopher McLaughlin and 21-yr-old Nathan Kelly who both have addresses in Donegal, were arrested near the scene of the incident in Sydney.

The men were taken to Burwood Police Station where they were charged with “reckless grievous bodily harm in company and affray” of a 66-yr-old gentleman who was found on the side of the road at the intersection of Grosvenor Crescent and Liverpool Road in Summer Hill.

The incdent is said to have occured at midnight with the elderly man being treated at the scene before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he is said to be in a very critical condition.

Mr McLaughlin from Malin and and Mr Kelly from Glengad appeared before Parramatta Bail Court. They’ve both been refused bail and are now due to appear before Burwood Local Court on 9 January.

It’s understood that neither man knew the 66-yr-old man prior to the beating he sustained.
