The capture of the village of Andriivka may signify a major breakthrough for Ukraine’s troops on the eastern front, according to analysts.
Battlefield reports say that Ukraine’s 3rd Assault Brigade managed to surround the Russian garrison stationed in the village, and systematically annihilated it over a period of 48h. Russian losses haven’t been tallied yet, but are bound to be substantial.
The fall of Andriivka, sited just 15km south of Bakhmut, may prove key in opening up further axes of advance for the Ukrainian war machine.
