Uproar in Clare from Ukrainians who’ve been told they have to move on

The local Ukrainian community at the Loop Head Peninsula in Co Clare has received a notice of removal, which has left the community “devastated,” reports RTE.

They claimed to have been informed of the plot 48 hours in advance.

Representatives from the community questioned why Loop Head residents are “being punished” after they “exceeded” in promoting integration and inclusion.

The Loop Head community claimed in a statement that 18 months prior, individuals from Ukraine, whose ages ranged from retirees to young schoolchildren, had arrived on the peninsula to “a rapturous welcome”, reports RTE.

It said that the neighbourhood hosted multicultural activities, historical nights, and welcome evenings.

“Despite the traumatic situation that led to their arrival, having fled a war-torn country before finally settling here, these families have now found peace and stability in a community that has fully embraced them,” the representatives said, reports RTE.
