US judge grants permission for salvage company to recover the Titanic’s telegraph machine

A US judge has granted permission for a salvage company to recover the Titanic’s Marconi telegraph machine.

The artifact carries great significant and cultural importance, since it was used to issue distress calls on the fateful night of April 15, 1912, when the Titanic cruise liner sank shortly after striking an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean. The event led to the death of over 1,500 people.

The ruling is also significant from a legal standpoint, as it overturns a previous ruling that prevented any cutting or retrieval operations to be conducted on the Titanic’s wreck.
