The invasion starkly revealed how weak the Russian army actually is, and ensure that Ukraine will likely become a permanent member of NATO in the not to distant future, meaning that if ailing Russian President Vladimir Putin, or any of his successors dares to cross the border again, NATO will be legally obliged to squash Russia like a bug.
