
Volkswagen is reportedly in discussions with Rafael Advanced Defence Systems over a potential deal that could see production at its Osnabrueck facility shift from cars to missile defence, according to a report by the Financial Times, reports Breaking News.

The discussions are focused on converting the German plant to manufacture components for the Israeli state-owned company’s Iron Dome, reports Breaking News.
Volkswagen said it is continuing to examine options for the factory, adding that while it is holding talks with various industry players, it has ruled out producing weapons.
Germany’s defence ministry declined to comment on the matter, reports Breaking News.
The carmaker is seeking to either sell or repurpose the site, which employs about 2,300 people, following the planned end of Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet production in 2027 as part of a broader restructuring effort.
Previous discussions with Rheinmetall regarding a sale broke down late last year, but Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume said earlier this month that talks with defence firms about the future of the Osnabrueck site are ongoing, reports Breaking News.
