A weather warning for low temperatures remains in place today, as the cold spell shows no signs of abating.
Today, Wednesday, will be a cold, dull day, with temperatures barely rising beyond 4-5C around the midlands and the east.
The thermometer will sink to 2-3C towards evening, but it will rise a little after midnight, to around 6-7C.
