The Irish winter is about to set in, after a period of unseasonably mild weather.

Today, Thursday, will be another relatively mild and settled day, with temperatures reaching 13C. Good sunny spells will develop later in the day.

Friday will be a rather wet day, with temperatures reaching 12C in the afternoon. It will become gradually colder towards evening however, with ground frost formation expected overnight.

Saturday is forecast to be a cold and showery day, with some sunny spells and also blustery downpours near western areas. The rain will continue overnight, but will die down towards morning.

And finally, Sunday is likely to be a cold, bright day, with some showers and temperatures of about 10C.
