A woman was spurred on to lose 6 stone after she said she felt “fat-shamed” at her mother’s funeral.
According to the Daily Mail, 47-year-old Paula Denyer lost the weight when she needed a 24 sized dress to attend the sad event. Despite the fact that her mother had just died, Paula’s godmother is said to have taken her to one side and suggested that she should lose some weight.
It may sound shocking, but it was all Paula needed to hear for her to make the decision to start a diet. Her efforts proved very successful as she dropped an amazing 6 stone and now, just one year after the funeral, weighs 13 stone and can now fit into a size 16 dress.
Paula told the Daily Mail;
“My godmother had always been extremely blunt, so this wasn’t new for her, but I didn’t think she would say anything like that at the funeral. I was devastated after my mum died after she’d had a long, two year battle with a brain tumour. The whole ordeal left me extremely low, and I’d also had knee surgery that left me really inactive so I turned to food as a crutch, which is why I got to the weight that I did.”
While her godmother’s comments might sound shocking, they really helped Paula turn her life around as it was all she needed to hear to make her start a diet. Her efforts proved very successful as she dropped an amazing 6 stone and now, just one year after the funeral, weighs 13 stone and can now fit into a size 16 dress, so all’s well that ends well.
