WWII German concentration camp guard expelled from US and deported to Germany. He won’t have any charges against him in Germany.
According to the Guardian, a 95 year-old German man living in the USA since 1959 was deported to Germany this month. He will not face any questioning or charges on his arrival in Germany.
Friedrich Karl Berger admitted to working as a Guard at a Nazi concentration camp for a few weeks near the end of the war and says he did not observe any abuse or killings. He also accompanied prisoners on the forced evacuation of the Neuengamme camp that resulted in the deaths of 70 prisoners.
Berger will not face trial in Germany because prosecutors dropped the case against him for lack of evidence.
A German police spokesman said there was no live investigation linked to Berger and he is a free individual and has not been taken into custody.
