World’s oldest man passes away peacefully at the age of 113

Masazo Nonaka, the world’s oldest man, passed away in his sleep last night at the age of 113.

Nonaka, who lived in Ashoro, Japan, had been certified as been born on July 25, 1905, and had been officially recognized by Guinness as the World’s Oldest Man in 2018. He said his secret to longevity was “eating sweets and taking hot baths.”

Japan has by far the highest proportion in the world of people aged 100 or older. As of today, about 68,000 people are centenarians, or older.
