Zelensky wants EU leaders to keep their promise to provide him with arms and weapons

On Thursday, the president of Ukraine urged the leaders of the European Union to honour their commitment to provide his war-torn nation with military hardware, as the bloc promised to sustain the Kyiv administration for an extended period of time, reports Breaking News.

“Fulfilment of every promise is important, not only in terms of protecting lives but also to destroy the Russian illusion that they will achieve something by war,” President Volodymyr Zelensky told the leaders at an EU summit in Brussels.

Before Ukraine’s armed forces are strengthened by promised fresh Western military help, some of which is making its way to the front lines, observers warn that Russian troops are attempting to push their advantage in personnel numbers and weaponry, reports Breaking News.

While expressing gratitude to the nations that have sent supplies, ammunition, and weaponry, Mr. Zelensky emphasised that “we need them urgently on the battlefield.”

In addition, he requested further assistance for “the urgent things – air defence, that is one.”

A 12-page agreement with the leaders’ “joint security commitments” was signed by Mr. Zelensky and them. It basically sums up the financial, military, and other support that the 27-member bloc has provided to the nation ever since Russian soldiers invaded in February 2022.

For its part, the EU pledges to provide military hardware in a “predictable, efficient, sustainable and long-term manner,” assist in military training and developing Ukraine’s defence industry, and enhance cooperation in combating cyber and hybrid threats such information manipulation and interference, reports Breaking News.
