According to reports Gardaí in Co Monaghan have arrested two men following the robbery of an elderly man Scotch Corner.
The arrests come after the alleged thieves used a jeep to signal the 86-year-old man to stop his car near Scotch Corner. It is understood one of the men then robbed the man when he pulled over after he claimed to be a member of the Gardaí. The assailant then proceeded to steal the elderly man’s wallet and left the scene in a jeep.
Gardaí have since recoveed the jeep, a short time later in Corlust, Castleshane, in Monaghan. Two men one aged in his 50s and the other in his 40’s, were arrested late last night. Both men are currently detained at Monaghan Garda Station.
