A teenage jockey has died after an incident while racing a beach meeting on Glenbeigh beach in County Kerry.
The incident occurred on Rossbeigh beach around 5pm on Saturday evening.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of the incident.
Gardai released a statement saying: “A male in his teens received treatment at the scene following the incident but was later pronounced deceased.
“His body has since been removed to the morgue at Kerry University Hospital.”
The Glenbeigh Races are a popular two-day event with young jockeys around the country.
