A major search is underway this evening in the water near Fountainstown in Cork Harbour.
A Coast Guard helicopter from Shannon is currently at the scene where the child went missing along with the Coast Guard unit from Crosshaven and the volunteer lifeboat crew from Crosshaven.
The alarm was raised at around 4.30pm where it’s believed that an 8-yr-old girl has been swept out to sea.
