Tributes paid to to woman (50s) who died in crash involving lorry in Cork

A woman in her 50s has been killed in a crash involving a car and a lorry in Co Cork.

The collision occurred on the R568 at Manch East in Ballineen at around 3pm this afternoon, reports RTE.

The woman, who was the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place, reports RTE.

A man in his 50s, who was the driver of the lorry, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The road remains closed as gardaí conduct a forensic collision examination, reports RTE.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have been travelling on the R568 at Manch East, Ballineen, Co Cork between 2.30pm and 3.00pm to contact them, particularly anyone with dash-cam footage.
