There’s been a big blow for the northeast town of Drogheda, County Louth today with the announcement of the closure of Marks & Spencers in Laurence shopping centre.
Staff were informed this morning that the shop was closing with the loss of all 57 jobs from the building.
The shop was due to open at 9am but opened at 11am after staff met in an adjoining cafe to be told that the shop was closing. It’s not yet known what the actual date the shop will close is but it’s believed to be imminent.
M&S say that the decision to close this particular shop is lack of sales compared to their other shops.
