?BREAKING: Gold for Ireland as Ellen Keane wins the 100m breaststroke in the Paralympics




26-yr-old Ellen Keane has won Ireland’s first medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games by winning gold in the 100m breaststroke SB8 with the best performance of her life.

Winning her favourite event, Keane had high expectations had entered the race with a personal best 1: 21.71, but crossed that mark almost two seconds faster. in the final winning gold in 1:19.93.

Like the heat, the final turned out to be a duel between Keane and New Zealander Sophie Pascoe, and Pascoe got off to a better start but Keane came back to win gold for Ireland.
