Teacher Enoch Burke has until 2pm to leave the Westmeath school or he’d be fined €700.
As of 2:15pm, Mr Burke remains standing outside the school’s door.
Teacher Enoch Burke went back to Wilson’s Hospital School in Co Westmeath today for a fourth day in a row to teach his kids despite being dismissed from the school following a school disciplinary meeting last week. He’s defiant that he will never ever call a boy a girl.
He was taken away from Gardai Tuesday and returned to the school again on Wednesday and yesterday.
However, developments yesterday say a Judge declaring that of Enoch Burke continues to go to the school then he’ll be fined €700 on a daily basis. If he continues to attend, on February 10, that figure will be assessed and increased to a fine to ensure he stops attending.
He had until 2pm today to tell the principal of the school whether he’ll stay away or not or the fine would kick in.
The standoff resulted in what started with Enoch Burke refusing to refer to a child who wanted to transition from a girl to a boy as “them/they”.
His deep seated views were reflected to the Principal in an alleged row where a disciplinary committee resulted in his eventual dismissal and even 108 days in jail for contempt of court.
