Irish UN peacekeeper hero Shane Kearney is to be medically evacuated from Lebanon to Ireland this morning.
The 23-yr-old had a blunt force trauma to the head when the armoured UN vehicle he was travelling in came under sustained attack in the coastal Lebanese village of Al-Aqbiya last week, reports RTE.
Sadly, Sean Rooney did not survive the attack.
The flight will land at Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnel where Trooper Kearney will then be rushed by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital to receive special medical treatment.
