Irish health authorities have confirmed just over 1,200 new coronavirus cases over the past 24h.
Official figures say that there have been 1,224 new infections confirmed in that period of time.
There are now 278 people with severe Covid-19 illness in hospital across the country. It is unclear how many of these are fully vaccinated.
