🔴BREAKING: Overnight temperatures to plummet -5C as national weather warning issued

A yellow warning for low temperatures has been issued for the entire country. Temperatures are expected to drop to around -5 degrees Celsius overnight, reports RTE.

Met Éireann has advised that it will be very cold with a widespread sharp frost and icy patches, along with patches of mist or fog.

The weather warning will be in effect from 9 pm tonight until 10 am tomorrow.

The cold weather is predicted to continue until Friday with night-time temperatures dropping to around -3C most nights, reports RTE.

The forecaster has warned that sharp to severe frosts, icy patches and dense fog at times could lead to dangerous travelling conditions.

Speaking on RTÉ’s Today with Claire Byrne, Met Éireann meteorologist Deirdre Lowe said: “Tonight, temperatures will get down to +1 to -5 degrees; tomorrow night as low as -6 degrees, [with a] widespread sharp to severe frost, icy stretches on roads.”
