?BREAKING: Power to the people – AIB reverse decision to go cashless in 70 banks

Finally there’s some good news from the banking sector.

Due to major backlash from the public and business sector, AIB has announced that it’s going to scrap its ludicrous idea to go completely cashless in 70 more of its branches on top of the 22 that already are.

The public’s backlash was too much for the bank to take and it’s announced the following statement:

In recent years there has been a dramatic increase in the use of digital banking services and a decline in branch visits and cash usage,” the statement says.

“In AIB’s case, there are 2.9 million daily digital interactions compared with 35,000 customer branch visits”, reports RTE.

“There has been a 36% decline in cash withdrawals from ATMs and a 50% fall in cheque usage over the past five years.”
