Speaking at Government Buildings this afternoon, the Taoiseach Micheal Martin said “we are in a race between the variant and vaccine…and we want to do everything we can to ensure the vaccines win”.
He demanded people get the vaccine in order to “keep up the progress”, as reportedly Tony Holohan and NPHET said there would be a disaster in August if the Delta variant got a grip of Ireland.
Martin said that the reopening of indoor hospitality will now open be allowed to people who are fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19 infection and that it will reopen on July 19th.
He said that the government will have a vaccine certificate system ready for July 19th which many people say is discriminatory, especially considering you can go to Northern Ireland and eat indoors no problem.
