Sesame Street star Bob McGrath has died at the age of 90, it has been confirmed this evening.
McGrath is best known for being one of the first human stars of the classic children’s series, which debuted in the 1969 pilot.
News of his death broke on Sunday when his family shared a post on Facebook.
They wrote: ‘Our father Bob McGrath, passed away today. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.’
The cause of death has not been disclosed at this time.
After his debut on Sesame Street, McGrath appeared on an incredible 47 seasons. His last cameo was in the 2017 episode titled Have a Ball.
