?BREAKING: Status Orange weather warning issued for 19 counties as temps to plummet to -5c this evening




Temperatures are expected to drop below -5C this evening as a new Orange Status weather warning has been issued for 19 counties.

Orange status low temperature and ice warning issued for counties Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Galway, Leitrim and Roscommon.

Met Éireann said it will be extremely cold tomorrow evening, with widespread temperatures below -5C bringing severe frosts and ice, reports RTE.

The warning applies from 6 p.m. tomorrow until Thursday noon.

A yellow low temperature and ice warning remains in effect for Ireland until Friday noon.

Met Éireann said it would remain very cold throughout the week, with widespread severe to severe frosts and stretches of frost.

A yellow status freezing fog warning was issued overnight for Connacht, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly and Westmeath.

The UK Met Office also issued an ice and fog warning for the six counties of Northern Ireland this morning.
